This dog is making me crazy!!!!! Help needed Please. Miss Hallie has decided that she enjoys the taste of poop. It started with poopcycles this winter, it had to be frozen and it had to be Cedar's. She has since branched out. Jake took her to the park last night and in the middle of a retrieve, she stopped to partake in a big pile of crap. Completely ignored him when he yelled at her. She almost always listend to him....me not so much.
She is now wearing a spray collar. With my luck, she'll like the smell of citronella Good job I have a great relationship with my local pet store guy. He'll take it back no problem if it doesn't work. The poop eating is the main reason I got it but I'm hoping that I can also use it for some other bad habits that she occasionally exhibits. Sort of like a general purpose NO!!!! Wish me luck!!

Re: This dog is making me crazy!!!!! Well, she certainly does not like to be squirted. LOL. She has a bad habit of barking demandingly at me when I go into the bathroom. So, I told her to Quiet, she continued to bark. Said it again and gave her a beep. Still barked so I gave her a small spray. Instant quiet. She did it again the next time I went into the bathroom and although the verbal command didn't work, the beep on her collar shut her up immediately. I'm hopeful.
So far, she hasn't tried to eat any poop which was the main reason I bought the damn thing. Might be because I cleaned up the yard so it will have to wait until her next dog park trip.

Re: This dog is making me crazy!!!!! Help needed. Well, I found a real downside to the collar. She had it on at the park this morning and was being naughty so I told her NO, then told her NO again with a beep. She instantly turned into a scared dog. Tail tucked, accusatory look in her eyes, wouldn't play, not even ball. That was just on the beep!! Entirely different dog. She has made the connection between me and the collar which isn't supposed to happen because of the remote. Hallie figured it out and wouldn't come near me. Broke my heart. The look in her eyes was terrible. She looked like an abused dog. The second I took the collar off her, she was back to normal altho I must admit that she did listen better and came right away when I called her.
She can't be the only dog in the world who has had this reaction, I need to find out what to do. I can't break my dog's spirit, that would suck. Hoping Bill is home today.

Re: This dog is making me crazy!!!!! Help needed. Thanks for the tips Bill.
Seems that Hallie got collar wise very quickly. I'm going to follow the expert's advise and really make sure she knows exactly what she's getting told not to do before I use it on her again. I think maybe she was trying to decide what she could and couldn't do in order to avoid the dreaded beep. I retrospect, I think maybe she was conning me a little hoping I'd give in and take it off her. She was right. She won. Hallie 1 Mom 0.

Re: This dog is making me crazy!!!!! Help needed. What a gross habit, Hallie!!!
We've been using our collar on Sally lately to keep her from digging where the moles mounds are. I never let her see the remote in my hand so she doesn't connect it w/ me. Good luck, Judi!!!
