Buddy's third agility trial. a lesson in showing up !!
Sooooo Buddy went to his third agility trial..

SURPRISE!!!!! Yip yip yipee!!!!!

First class was REGULAR.. We were off to a great start when Buddy decided to jump over the orange construction fence which deffined the ring. But he did jump back in within 15 seconds or so and we were not eliminated.. We finished the course and actually placed second in the class, although with time faults and course faults for leaving the ring.

Second class was TOUCH AND GO . Surprise.... Buddy was awesome. We finished first and Q ed..

Third class was CHANCES , where the dog has to distinquish which obstacles to go over while the handler is at a distance can you believe it we had a clear round and made time.. We Q ed again.

our fourth and last class of the day was WEAVERS.. We were flowing along brilliantly until all of a sudden in the middle of 6 weave pole Buddy stopped in his tracks and smelled the equipment. It took three tries but he finally went through and finihsed the course nicely. But the delay cost us time faults so we did not Q although we still came in third in spite of it. I later learned that one of the female dogs who ran before us had peed on the spot where Buddy's nose got in the way of his forward motion.. So i couldn;t feel too badly about it..

In fact I was surprised and thrilled by our sucess at our third trial..I would have been happy with Buddy just staying in the ring and managing to go over a few of the obstacles.

It was a great day..

Well done!

I never could get Hannah to go through the weave poles.

Way to stay with it Sue! There is so much training and bumps, or shall I say canyons, along the way. I am glad to see Buddy proving that hard work does pay off. Enjoy your success.

I just saw a video the other day, a tribute to a well-accomplished dog. It started from the beginning and showed several videos of him not completing the teeter, flying off the dog walk, not getting on the table, etc. If that wasn't enough, I showed his first two nationals and they were not successful either. After that, there were some great moments and tons of ribbons and titles that followed. It was quite inspirational.

What venue were you running in? I am not familiar with classes being called by what you mentioned.

You can still be courteous when all else fails.

its NADAC North American Dog Agility Council. Its a national organization. I am in RI, where there are two active local ( new england)agility clubs that sponsor Nadac trials within an hour of where I live.. It was pretty neat because there were actually two other Labs in our specific Novice class ( as well as other breeds). There were anywhere from 6-12 dogs in each of our height novice classes . There were about 55-60 dogs total at this particular trial.

My agility instructor likes the Nadac group because they will allow you to revert to using the opportunity for limited "training" if your dog blows it ..Obviously you are eliminated , but it at least allows you to try. Of course some dogs (like Buddy at our last trial) are politely told "thank you: by the judge when it is obvious that nothuing is being accomplished.

There is a whole site on line that describes the classes rules, regs and qualifying titles etc.

thanks for the kudos..I am still wondering whose dog that was in Buddys place on saturday.. tee hee...

Ah, NADAC. I have only ran in CPE and hope to add AKC to that eventually or maybe USDAA. There are so many, I can hardly keep them straight. I wasn't familiar with the class names, that is why I asked. The games sound similar, just different name.

I am so happy for you that Buddy decided to work for good that day!
