What's going on?!?!
This place has been DEAD lately. Is everyone busy? Let's share some stories, pictures, updates (start some new threads, peeps)

This weekend, me and Sally are going to my parents for some swimming in the pool and time w/ my daddy. We may hit the river for some fun on Sun. I'll post some pics Sunday night or Monday.

Well, I seem to have been very busy lately...doing what exactly I don't know. Just seems that the days fill up faster than I can get things done. LOL

Today was a dog day. A Hallie day to be specific. I had her at the dog park by 6:30 than back again at noon. At 1:30 we were heading out to go to a behaviour lesson out at SuperDogs Central. Got home about 6.

I think I am overdosing on Hallie at the moment. LOL

I've been working, working on the bathroom, moderating another board, and other miscellaneous things. But today, I went fishing and brought this home for lunch:

Rainbow Trout sautéed in butter and olive oil, with salt, pepper, and Herbes de Provence.

Re: What's going on?!?!
Well I've been around, but my child has decided he loves trying to rip the keys off the laptop, so I have cut down on alot of internet usage when he's awake. lol

Not a whole lot of anything going on... I'm actually looking for a job right now, maybe something temporary (since in about 5 months I'll need to go on leave), part-time, just to get out of the house some more than what I am and get Ben back into daycare for a lil more socialization.

That's about it....

And Brett - while I am sure you are quite proud of your fish, I cannot look at that picture, yuck! I am not a fish person..

Okay, this one can't stare back up at you. When The Wife® and I were in Homer a couple of weekends back, we had breakfast at a wonderful little bakery where we had a killer pastry. Dinner tonight was our first attempt to replicate it...with embellishment:

It's a puff pastry filled with brie, tomato, prosciutto, and basil. The last two ingredients were our additions.

It was quite tasty.

Brett, that pastry looks amazing. How did you trout turn out? I like fish but would prefer not to see it looking back at me while I cook it.

The fish was great. It's hard to get fresher than one that's been out of the water just over an hour. And buttery, crispy fish skin? Fuggedaboudit.

Truth be told, though, I wound up cutting the head and tail off anyway. She was a little too big for the plate.

Re: What's going on?!?!
Just an update on my life since I became a member here:

Miss Emma is doing super well--she grew up to be what I would consider to be a small lab retriever (just a bit over knee high) and has just the most loving personality.

In the years since, I now have three grandsons and the 4th grandchild on the way is a granddaughter--so our lives will again be filled with pink, baby dolls, and frills. Having raised 3 daughters, I didn't realize how much I missed all that stuff!!..But I have gotten to understand more about Power Rangers, Transformers, and Army bunkers far more than I ever thought I'd need to know!!..

I've gained two sons-in-law over the years--they are pretty good guys--but somehow their dad's didn't teach them much about simple repair work around the house.. can only hope that my grandsons will have the interest in picking up a few tools over their formative years and want to learn how to use them!!..

I have continued to be healthy and that is really the goal I have the closer I get to 60--and I can remember the days when I thought 30 was "over the hill"..now I laugh about it!!

Re: What's going on?!?!
This has been a good year. Our new grandson, Daxton, was born in February and is growing like a bad weed. Chip, my chocolate baby, is doing good as well. Katie & Sadie, our outside rotties, are still sweeties and Tigger, the 14 YO yellow house cat, is still hanging in there.

I am in training to do the Tulsa Run (a 15K event) the end of October and am enjoying the process.

I ripped down the wallpaper in the hall half bath back in June. Went to Lowe's and purchased the supplies to complete the project and the very next day we were notified of a DOT compliance audit on his business. So the bathroom project was back-burnered for about two weeks while I pulled together all the paperwork required. The the next weekend, was the 4th of July, which we spent in Houston with son and wife. So I'm thinking the next weekend I will get back to the bathroom....WRONG! My husband leaned against one of posts on the front porch and it had rotted at the bottom and broke, so the next weekends were spent installing new porch posts. Now after a couple of weekends with other events to take care of, I think maybe this weekend I can put the final coat of paint on the porch posts and.....just maybe.....get back to my half bathroom. I'm just tired of the primered walls and no mirror and am also tired of the stack of supplies in the laundry room.

So, up at the regular time in the morning, go run with the group at 6:45 a.m., then back home and hopefully can get the house projects going again.

Whew! I'm tired already.
