Hannah's clean teeth I took Hannah for her heartworm checkup yesterday and they were gushing over how clean Hannah's teeth are. She laughed later because she doesn't even floss.
Hooray for raw bones. In other news, I printed out the petsupplies.net order page for Heartguard Plus as the vet price matches. It was $28.99 for six months. I specifically asked for four boxes so I had a year supply for Hannah and Daisy. The woman at the register must have misread the printout because she only charged me $28.99 for a year supply. Two years of HW pills and an exam and blood work for Hannah and it cost me $102.

Re: Hannah's clean teeth That's a deal on both the exam and bloodwork alone, or the heartworm meds alone, together that is an amazing deal!!
Good work on Hannah's teeth being so clean too! Quinn in all of his 15 years never had his teeth cleaned, they were very clean, and he still had all his teeth by the time I lost him earlier this year. Good job Hannah Banana!!

Re: Hannah's clean teeth That sounds like you got a real deal! (I love deals!)
I boarded Chip over the 4th of July weekend (Thursday p.m. to Tuesday p.m.) My total bill was $217.....that included boarding, annual immunizations, a heartworm immunization (works for 6 months) and a bath. I thought I did pretty good on that one. Anyone have any thoughts on the heartworm immunization shots? Since my vet recommended it, I went ahead and did it and also since I'm so bad at remembering to give him his pill, I won't have to worry about it. Teresa - Chip's Mom |

Re: Hannah's clean teeth Didn't know they gave an immunization for hearworm. Interesting. But does it also cover the other worms that heargard and interceptor also protect from?

Re: Hannah's clean teeth Erin,
I didn't know the answer, so I called my vet's office and this is what they told me..... She said that most heartworm preventives indicate they prevent other worms, but their experience has shown many dogs coming in (using regular heartworm treatment) who were loaded with those other worms. In their opinion, they provide a low dose for those other worms, but aren't always effective, so an annual fecal check along with their regular vaccinations was needed. This injection also indicates it helps with those other worms along with ear mites and sarcophic (sp) mange, but that I should not rely on the injection (or the tablets either) to control worms. Anyway, since I am terrible in remembering the heartworm pills, this should work well for me and I'll just get him checked for worms during his annual. Thanks for asking, because I learned something from this as well. Teresa - Chip's Mom |

Re: Hannah's clean teeth Thanks for checking that out Teresa.
Sally does all her frontline, interceptor and paw-e-cure all on the 20th of each month. It's marked on the calender, too. She still gets the yearly fecal test for worms, too.
