It has been nothing but a flat out dead run around here for the past few weeks. The weather, compared to all the rain last year, has made for some serious crop production and we were knee deep in thousands of pounds of summer squash and zucchini the past couple of weeks! Problem was... We had more than we could sell. So Mark made a bunch of calls a couple of weeks ago to more Hannaford stores and we got signed up with them, so we now service 6 stores (7 if you include the itty bitty store down the street from us).

Which is GREAT! Except, who has the time to pick, wash, box and deliver all this fine produce??? I got up on on Tuesday at 4:30 to deliver an order to a store 45 minutes south of us, so Mark could concentrate on delivering to 5 stores that are to the north of us. Tobey, our hired hand, has been wonderful. He works his butt off and is now working about 11 hour days just to keep up with the demand.

I try to do invoicing the night before, but sometimes I'm home for lunch trying to get them out. And then when I get home at night, I do the billing. Last night after dinner we went out and picked beans in the new bean picker, which was great because it would have taken me 5 hours to pick the amount we needed for orders and with the bean picker it took 10 minutes.



So, can you tell I have lots of time on my hands? lol. My day job has been insane as well. Most nights I'm in bed at 8:30 and wake up the next morning wondering where the hell the previous day went.

Our sweet corn has been coming in for about a week now and we just had someone find us online who wants to buy 2,000 to 3,000 ears a week. We were very happy to hear from him because instead of selling it to the supermarket, we can sell it to him for the same price and he will COME AND GET IT!! Woooo hooo! I have a bitch of a time lugging those 60-ear-a-bag bags around. My back felt the strain last year!

Wow, you are one hard working woman! I love to see pictures of your farm and produce. It looks wonderful and makes me wish I lived right down the road. I am so happy for you guys to get another hard working guy to help out. Thanks for taking the time out to post these pictures.

feel bad for you that you are so tired and busy, but yay for the farm (and all the people getting fresh veggies)!
